The venue, which is managed by the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), officially opened to the public at the beginning of November 2023, following the completion of this major project – financed by a £1.67m grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), plus other funding sources. The team at USL worked in partnership with the CCT, Malcolm Fryer Architects, Sawyer and Fisher (Epsom) Ltd (QS), and structural engineering firms SGA Consulting Ltd and The Morton Partnership to see the venue undergo both internal and external conservation repairs and new interventions.

The objective of the ambitious ‘Build for Exchange’ renewal project was not only to conserve and regenerate the building but also to carry out vital repairs to the historic fabric prior to transforming the interior spaces through a range of physical improvements, ensuring a new dynamic historical interpretation, and widening the audience reach for a sustainable future.
