Working in partnership with Matthew Thomas Architects and specialist glazers Devlin Plummer, the team at USL was pleased to work as the principal contractor at Ipswich Christ Church on Tacket Street.

This Victorian Grade II Listed church was in need of west-end repairs to glazing, windows and gable.  Formerly the Congregational Church, and now the United Reformed Church, designed by Ipswich architect Frederick Barnes in the Gothic Revival style.

A feature of the building is the large rose window over the main entrance, its delicate tracery filled with coloured glass. Our specialist team carried out stone cleaning, stone window dressings replacements in Caen Stone, stone repairs, and extensive stain glass repairs and conservation to the main West window.

The conservation works were carried out over 20 weeks whilst the building remained open to the public.
