Charming Church on Mersea Island Receives External Restoration
USL is pleased to have worked on the restoration of this beautiful Grade I Listed church on West Mersea Island in Essex. The historic Church of St Peter and St Paul has been at the centre of this close-knit community since the 7th Century.
Interesting Fact: St. Cedd founded his monastery in Bradwell circa 654 and built historic St.Peter’s chapel on the Bradwell Peninsula out of the remains of the Roman fort of Othona. From this idyllic location he evangelised Essex, the kingdom of the East Saxons.
Our USL team of specialists have been carrying out vital fabric repairs to the exterior of the church and tracery elements.
