USL were pleased to work in partnership with the London Borough of Hillingdon at the Grade II Listed Eastcote House and Gardens to carry out vital repair works to the walled kitchen garden. Eastcote House Gardens is an area of public parkland in Eastcote, covering 9 acres and incorporates the walled garden, dovecote and coach house of Eastcote House.

The repair works, undertaken over a 12-week programme comprised of; stone masonry repairs, mortar repairs, pinning, repointing, and brickwork to approximately 120Lm of walls on both sides.



  • Inspected all walls to identify defected masonry for cutting out/replacement or repair works.
  • Detailed photographic records of all existing masonry to record repairs, bounding patterns, joinery widths and special features.
  • Careful removal of plant growth, roots, and debris from masonry
  • Carried out stone masonry, mortar repairs and repointing to approximately 120Lm of walls (on both sides)
  • Mortar repairs of cracks by means of resin injection.
  • Rebuilt 8m² of wall, installed cem-ties to bond the walls together, and replaced steel posts and remedial ties.
  • Renewed 4nr concrete and brick bases to picnic benches

The project was carried out whilst the area was open to the public.  The selection of building components, materials and method of working, site layout planning, sequencing of works were agreed upon and established to ease the repair process, whilst minimising the disruption to the public as well as surrounding residential areas.
