USL was pleased to undertake the restoration and replacement of the choir vestry roof at St John at Hampstead. Working in partnership with Andy Burrell Architecture this Hampstead church received a new covering in natural Westmoorland Slates from Cumbria.

The restoration programme arose following the Quinquennial Inspection including roof dismantling and rebuilding, mortar repairs and repointing, carpentry, timber treatment, leadwork, thermal insulation, new roof slating, roof light, rainwater goods and decoration.

The present church was consecrated in 1747 and extended westwards in 1844 and again in 1878 to include a new chancel and sanctuary, the side chapel being consecrated in 1912. This place of worship is under the support of the National Church Trust.
