𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗜 - 𝟭𝟲𝟴𝟬–𝟴𝟮 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱)
Steeple Dismantling and Rebuilding Programme

The programme of essential works includes stone dismantling, off-site stone cleaning and repairs, stone production and replacement, stone rebuilding and associated works to lead coverings, railings and weathervane. The rebuilding of the steeple will see each element reinstated in its exact initial position so as to not deviate from the original design.

𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗜 - 𝟭𝟲𝟴𝟭–𝟴𝟲 (𝗔𝗯𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗲)

Programme:  One of the most surprising City Churches, again St Mary Abchurch is tucked down a side street and once you step inside you’re transported back to the late 17th century. The USL team are undertaking investigation works to the old drainage systems and dome.

𝗦𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗲
𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟭 - 𝟭𝟲𝟴𝟱–𝟵𝟱 (𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁)

Programme: This impressive Grade I Listed church required an extensive refurbishment project, comprising of re-ordering of WC accommodation, installation of joinery to galleries, internal and external accessibility works, kitchen appliances and servery, and full internal redecoration of the church and ancillary spaces. Our team of heritage specialists completed the project with improved external access to the church including a new ramp, railings, paving, pointing of boundary wall and access control.

Restoration on Christopher Wren churches have been ongoing since the Great Fire of London in 1666, with many churches undergoing multiple phases of repair and reconstruction due to war damage, 19th-century consolidations, and ongoing maintenance needs.

While some churches were lost to demolition and war, many were rebuilt or restored, with varying degrees of adherence to Wren's original designs.  We look forward to sharing more updates on these fascinating buildings.
