Estimator (Construction & Refurbishment)

Location – Battlesbridge, Essex

Full-time, Permanent

Due to ongoing expansion, a vacancy has arisen for an experienced Estimator for the Refurbishment Division. The ideal candidate would be conveniently located, able to work on his/her own initiative to a high standard, and to meet deadlines.  Responsible for the smooth running and development of the department, as well as carrying out estimating functions.

REPORTING TO: Senior Estimator

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven record in the construction industry
  • Proven experience in estimating in construction & refurbishment
  • Working knowledge of JCT / NEC
  • Knowledge of HSE requirements
  • Excellent analytical skills are essential including numeracy and communication skills in English
  • High level of computer literacy in MS Office & Project
  • Ability to time manage, balance and organise workloads
  • Commercial acumen and an ability to develop sales strategies
  • Proactive team player with strong people management abilities
  • Must hold full UK Drivers Licence

 

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Degree (Qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management - preferred) or equivalent employee experience
  • At least 5 years in a related industry and 3 years in construction estimating within the refurbishment industry

 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Preparation of pre-tender and bid/tender submissions
  • Preparation of financial and commercial presentations
  • Generate Bill of Quantities (BoQs) & Bills of Materials (BoMs) from drawings / specifications
  • Analyse and assemble accurate/well organised estimates and proposals in a timely manner
  • Negotiation of contract terms/conditions
  • Departmental reporting and analysis
  • Compilation of H&S documentations
  • Maintain relationships with clients/partners
  • Develop effective new client relationships
  • Participate in the development of company’s sales and advertising

ROLE DETAILS:

  • Full time, Permanent
  • Working hours 09:00 – 17:30, but may require longer hours occasionally as workload & deadlines dictate
  • Travel, as required

Yard Labourer (Construction & Stone Company)

Location:  Battlesbridge, Essex

Full-time, Permanent

Due to ongoing expansion, a vacancy has arisen for a Yard Labourer.  The ideal candidate would be conveniently located, able to work on his/her own initiative, hold a valid forklift and drivers licence. 

 

The role is from 7:30am to 5:00pm (Monday-Friday), predominately outside and includes general labour duties within a busy construction yard. 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

 

The main responsibilities in this role are as follows –

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles manually or with counterbalance fork trucks
  • Ensuring areas are kept clean & tidy
  • All general labouring duties
  • Coordinate with various teams to ensure jobs are completed as planned
  • Completion inspection of incoming materials or refer to relevant responsible person
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Participate in company safety initiatives
  • Work to provide results in a timely manner in accordance with planned dates/times
  • Participate in deliveries

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will ideally display the following attributes –

  • Hard working and self-motivated
  • Ability to use initiative to plan workload when required
  • Strong team working and interpersonal skills
  • Be reliable, punctual and keen to learn within a construction environment
  • Flexible attitude
  • Must hold full UK Drivers Licence & Forklift Licence
