It was great to see everyone at St Andrews enjoying the topping and west elevation restoration milestone celebration.
Big thank you to our partners Art Architects for the great photos.
The event saw the new carvings returned to the Grade II listed church as well as high-level stone restoration. Councillor Jason Jackson, Mayor of Islington, was also an honoured guest.
He generously remarked “The journey to restore the beautiful spire takes energy, vision and support, and today we celebrate a milestone and a job well done.”
During the celebration, Reverend Caroline blessed the work from high above the scaffolding, and two young children were present to assist in the cake cutting and speeches.
This project was generously locally funded and under the care of the National Churches Trust with additional support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund

Constructed in 1852-1854 in the Neo-Gothic style with Kentish Ragstone and Bath stone dressings. You can hardly turn on the TV without seeing some part of Barnsbury featuring in dramas or sitcoms using the elegant local Georgian architecture.
The restoration team are executing a programme of urgent stone restoration works including new stone replacements.
